Chrome

Chrome formed in San Francisco in 1977 by Helios Creed (vocals/guitar), Damon Edge (vocals/drums), John Lambdin (guitar) and Gary Spain (bass). The band combined a very early industrial sound with experimentation with tape machines, electric violin, and Moog. They released their debut full-length The Visitation on Siren in 1977.

Their second and third albums, the last albums before going to a major label, were packaged together in 1990 for re-release by Touch and Go. 1978’s Alien Soundtracks more prominently featured Creed’s guitar playing, and by the time of 1979’s Half Lips Machine Moves, the focus was more on the sound experimentation of Creed and Edge, with Spain and Lambdin out of the band.

After releasing a few more records, the band broke up in 1982.
